Description
Genmaicha 玄米茶 refers to roasted brown rice tea. There are many variations of this tea, where the roasted brown rice is mixed with sencha (green tea), bancha (2nd harvest green tea), even hojicha (roasted green tea) and more. Genmaicha has the moniker of “popcorn tea” as the roasted rice does provide similar notes to popcorn.
Our organic Genmaicha powder is a 50/50 blend of matcha and roasted brown rice. We recommend our Genmaicha powder for use in lattes and desserts for a lovely roasted “popcorn” flavour. It can also be used in a savoury dish called “ochazuke” which is essentially tea broth over rice.
People who are not (yet) accustomed to the taste of regular matcha will also find Genmaicha delicious, while still reaping all the benefits of matcha.
