In general, Hôjicha or Houjicha refers to a green tea that has been roasted. It usually consists of later tea pickings and includes the flavourful tea twigs/stems as well. Since the roasting process also removes most of the caffeine, hojicha can be consumed by children, the elderly and those with caffeine sensitivities.
Organic Hojicha Jun 淳 is a light roast hojicha that has been ground into powder form. However, it is slightly darker than our other hojicha powder RAKU. Great for use in lattes and desserts when you prefer a more roasted flavour, and less of “green” vegetal tones. It has notes reminiscent of caramel, coffee, and cacao.
